How to convince your parents to get you a hamster

This post will explain how to convince your parents that you are capable of caring for a hamster

Remember that your parents will not think you are responsible if you beg, or whine or scream at them.

Research

When you choose the breed of hamster that you want you will want to do lots of research about that breed. Such as, how big the cage should be, what food they can and can't eat, how long they live for,  if they are a suitable breed for you. good types of bedding.
You can watch youtube videos or use hamster forums,

Writing

Write down all the information you have found. You can write it in a folder or notebook. Your can include pictures and diagrams to show your parents that you know all the information about caring for a hamster.
Type out a letter or email and send it to your parents. Include how you will pay for it, and how you will manage the cleaning and caring for it.

Chores or jobs

Do chores or jobs for your parents to show that you have responsibility, you can: hoover, clean, wash the dishes, tidy your room, tidy the whole house!

Other pets

If you have any other pets, look after them as well to show you can care for an animal. If your parents do decide to get you a hamster, don't stop looking after your pets! Keep looking after your pets because they love you just as much as you love them!!

Show your parents pictures of hamsters

You can just show your parents pictures of hamster and show them how cute they are! Or you can take them into your local pet shop and show them hamsters and all the bedding and supplies that you would need for a hamster. You can talk to a helper at the shop and ask about caring an facts about hamsters.

NO!

If your parents say no, DO NOT get angry at them or cry or whine. Stay calm and ask why and then make a mini presentation about the reason they said no. If they say that the hamster will be to smelly, come up with solutions to prove them that you will clean it our every week or more if it needs it.
If your parents still say no, wait a couple of months to give them time to think about it!
Thanks for reading! Hope you will be getting your new hamster soon!

Hamster Questions

How long have you had hamsters?

I have had hamsters for about three-four years. I looked after my friends hamster for a couple of months before I had my own hamster.

Name and type of your first hamster

My first hamster was called Poppy. She was a grey banded syrian hamster.

Favourite hamster species and why

I have only ever had syrian hamsters, so I think my favourite breed would be strains; because they are easy to hold and very cuddly! She can be tamed easily and come in lots of different colours and patterns.

How many hamsters do you own and what are their names?

I currently own one hamster, a syrian hamster called Lettice.

What are your hamsters favourite treats?

Lettuce really enjoyed eating yoghurt drops, sunflower seeds and peanuts. You can give hamsters peanuts in the shell which is a good gnawing technique for hamsters.

Where do you keep your hamster?

I keep my hamster in the spare bedroom (which is next to my bedroom.) But in the summer I plan to keep her down stairs where it is slightly cooler so she doesn't get to hot.

What are the pros and cons of owning a hamster?

Hamsters are great pets because they are cute, cuddly, fun to play with and easy to care for and relativly cheap.
But the cons would be: they sleep in the day and are awake at night and they can be quite loud at night. So if you are a light sleeper then maybe a hamster isn't a great pet for you.

How many hamsters have you had?

I have had four hamsters (including Lettice who I currently own)
They were called, Charlie, Poppy and Maisy.

Thanks for reading! This is a picture of the litter that Lettice was in! She was great when I first saw her, but now she is brown, dark grey and white!

About this blog!

Displaying Lettice.jpg

Hi!
So this blog will be about hamster care and the essentials for a new hamster!
I will be posting pictures of my hamster (Lettice) and reviews on different types of products!
Hope you like this idea for a blog and remember to check out my youtube channel: Animalark
I post videos about hamster care and just videos of my hamster!
On the right is a picture of my hamster! She is about 2 months old and I got her from my local  pet store (which is also a breeder.) I prefer getting hamsters from a breeder because you know where you hamster is coming from and you can ask questions about the genetics so that you can (if you want to) breed safely!
On the left is a picture of my dog, Charlie. He is 6 years old and he is a shih-tzu, king charles and a tibetan. Let me know in the comments below if you want me to do dog care posts and reviews of dog treats!
